After a tough loss last night the Colonels Ice Hockey Club will be lacing it up for the final time at home tonight. The Colonels lost a tough ones last night losing the lead with 5 minutes left in the third. Come out to support the team and get your last bit of hockey fix in for this year. Puck drops at midnight, tickets are 5 dollars at the door.

Two Games Against UK

December 7th and 8th EKU Hockey will faceoff against UK in a two game series. Both games will be played at Lexington Ice Center, the puck drops at midnight both nights.

I Mustache You a Question

During the month of November several members of the team will be participating in Movember, and growing mustaches(or trying to grow mustaches). Movember is a campaign to provide fundraising to help fight against prostate and testicular cancer.

The growing of the mustaches aims to gain awareness of the need to fight prostate and testicular cancer. It is similar to the Breast Cancer walks (but instead of walking we grow mustaches), and its a way to get people involved and informed on how to help the cause.

“The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG Foundation.”(us.movember.com/about)

Wright State Comes to Colonel Country

October 27th, the Colonels will host Wright State’s hockey club. This will be the last home game for the team until mid-December.

Tickets are $5 dollars and are available for purchase at the door, or at Powell Corner the Friday before the game. As always the puck drops at midnight at the Lexington Ice Center.

Cincinnati Comes

On October 5th the Cincinnati Bearcats hockey team come to Lexington to face-off against EKU Hockey. Cincinnati has been a long time rival of EKU Hockey and it promises to be a show.

It will be Greek night as well. Members of Greek Life are encouraged to come support the team, the Colonels, and represent your letters.

As always the puck drops at midnight at the Lexington Ice Center. Tickets will be available at the door or Thursday and Friday morning on Powell Corner.

Home Opener

The Colonels season opens this weekend on September 21st and 22nd. The team will be opening the season playing both games against longtime rival Xavier University. Tickets will be sold at the door or at Powell Corner on campus Thursday and Friday before the game. Come out to the games to support Colonels hockey, have a good time, and have the possibility to win prizes. Both games start at the usual midnight at Lexington Ice Center.

EKU Hockey at the Paddywagon

The members of the EKU Hockey that are 21 years old or older will be at the Paddywagon in Richmond Kentucky Thursday September 6th. There will be an opportunity to hear great live music, hangout with members of the team, and win some merchandise. So come join the team for a night of good times and plenty of drinks. Only those who are 21 years old or older will be allowed in.

Tryouts Announced

The hockey team will be holding open tryouts on Monday, August 27th. There will be an informational meeting that all players and possible players must attend Sunday, August 26th. To play you must be a full time student at EKU. If someone doesn’t make the team, there is a possibility of them making a practice squad team or helping out with the team if they so choose. Colonels Hockey Cares

This season the Colonels will be hosting special guests at the home games this year. Every home game the Colonels will invite a child who has maybe gone through some rough times from a disability or illness to the game for free, meet the players of the team, and get a couple souvenirs. The Colonels hockey organization just wants to help brighten a deserving child’s day, its the least we can do for those who have gone through so much.

EKU Hockey at bd’s in Lexington

On April 25th from 6:00-9:00 EKU hockey from will be at bd’s Mongolian Grill. The team is hosting a fund raiser there and would like to extend an invitation to everyone to hangout with the team for dinner. Also, $1 drafts on all domestic beer when you come in while the team is there. The team would love to see you there and would be very appreciative of your support.
